Looking for Inspiration? Check Out One of These Amazing Classic Car Show Events

With the weather cooling down, autumn is a fantastic time to hit the road and spend a couple weekends checking out local classic car show events. This is especially true if you are on the hunt for your next project car or if you are looking for some advice and vintage parts. Classic car and hot rod shows are fun and exciting places to meet people, show off your vehicle, and learn more about what others are doing with restoration work. If you bring your own hot rod to the show, you might even bring home some awards and recognition. But where to start? The following is a look at some of the great upcoming local shows that should be on your radar this fall:

Check Out These Autumn Classic Car Show Events

  1. 60th Anniversary of the El Camino | October 11 & 12 in Arlington, TX. As far as classic car shows go, this one is pretty specific. In fact, while we certainly appreciate this model, before we got wind of this event we might not have realized how many others loved this Chevy classic. Produced between 1959 and 1987, this unique car/truck hybrid is certainly one-of-a-kind. More than 250 El Caminos and GMC sister vehicles, like the Caballero, are expected to be shown off at this Arlington, TX car show. But it isn't just Texas car enthusiasts that'll be showing up. Organizers say that some vehicles and owners are coming in from as far as Finland and the Netherlands to show off their vehicles and celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first release of this iconic model.
  2. DFW Swap Meet | October 17 to 19 in Grand Prairie, TX. In need of some parts for your hot rod project? Then the DFW Swap Meet is a can't-miss Texas event for you this fall. Celebrating its 84th year, this is one of the oldest and largest such car events in the entire southwest. Plus, both parking and entrance is free -- a true rarity for any event of this kind. So take the Saturday off and enjoy meandering through hundreds of vendors and their classic car parts for sale or swap.
  3. Westlake Classic Car Show | October 19 in Westlake, TX. Also happening on October 19 is the relatively new but very enjoyable Annual Westlake Classic Car Show hosted by the Solana Club. This classic car show is in its ninth year and was established to celebrate the Golden Era of the Automobile -- which is to say the first fifty years of consumer cars. So what you'll see featured here are some of the best 1909 to 1959 original (and restored near to original) automobiles in the area. Note, however, that while this is perhaps the best show to go to if you're looking for pristine classic cars, this isn't a show for hot rods or customized cars. That said, it's certainly worth checking out if you're in the area.
